Holly started running in the United States Marine Corps, but unfortunately got hurt during boot camp. In April of this year, she got back into running, training on her own for a 5k. Holly runs in Day Road Park in Lockport,NY. She loves running along the canal due to its length and the scenery.
Let’s see how Holly answered our run questions:
Q: What is your favorite post run treat?
A: Beer, usually offered after the races! I’ve done 6 as of today and I am signed up for three more.
Q: What is the most motivational song on your playlist?
A: When The Levee Breaks by Led Zepplin. I ran my fastest while listening to it and it’s a longer song than most.
Q: What was your last race?
A: The Veteran’s 5k race in Lockport on Oct 4th. My most recent pr 30.44 mins and my fastest lap times 9:30, 10:06,10:11.
Q: What it the hardest run you have done?
A: The Brothers of Mercy 5k race. It was a tough race for me mentally. I had been sick with a really bad upper respiratory infection for 4 weeks. I was coughing a lot getting closer to the date and wasn’t able to run more than a mile without stopping to cough. I told myself that I would run at least two miles then see how I felt. My mind was tired and wanted my body to stop but my body felt great while running. I ended up running the whole race!
Q: What is your biggest struggle with running to date?
A: When I get tired, I start to slack with my run form. I’ve been retraining my mind when I start to feel tired to think about how I’m running. The videos on the TRE website about run form have been helping me tremendously.
Q: What is your proudest run moment?
A: Realizing that I’m very close to another run goal of mine, which is running 5k in under 30 mins.
Q: What drew you to TRE?
A: I realized that I would save money, get training help from people that have had the same struggles that I’ve had and help from amazing people who are extremely knowledgeable. I can’t thank Craig and Nate enough for all the videos, tips and coaching calls they do. I’ve improved tremendously in such a short time since I’ve joined TRE and starting the 30 day challenge!
Thanks for sharing Holly! Cheers to many more miles of running strong!
